Alexander Vladimirovich Brilliantov is a well-known scientist specializing in matters of criminal and penal law, one of the developers of the Criminal Executive Code of the Russian Federation.

As part of the working group, he took part in the development of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, as well as a number of draft laws on amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

Born on August 11, 1951 in Moscow.

Graduated in 1974 from the full-time department of the law faculty of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov. Specialty — jurisprudence.

He defended his Ph.D. thesis «Criminal liability for crimes contributing to the spread of drunkenness and alcoholism» in 1980, specialty 12.00.08.

In 1998 he defended his doctoral dissertation at the All-Russian Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on the topic: «Differentiation of punishment: criminal law and criminal executive problems.»

After graduating from the university A.V. Brilliantov worked as a lawyer at the Moscow City Bar Association and at the same time taught at the Department of Criminal Law at the All-Union Correspondence Institute of Law, later transferred to scientific work at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he rose from a junior researcher to the head of a laboratory.

Retired Colonel of Internal Service. He worked at the University of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation in the positions of head of the department, vice-rector of the university for science.

He has the class rank of Senior Counselor of Justice.

Currently, he is the head of the department of criminal law at the Russian State University of Justice, a member of the Academic and Dissertation Councils. council, a member of the scientific advisory council at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, a member of the expert council of the Higher Attestation Commission.

Alexander Vladimirovich actively works in the editorial boards of the magazines «Criminal Law», «Russian Justice».

He has published over 300 scientific papers, including monographs, textbooks, commentaries and textbooks on criminal and penal law.

Teaches disciplines: criminal and penal law, service criminal law, punishment: problems of appointment and release, crimes against state power, the interests of public service and service in local self-government bodies, the doctrine of crime and corpus delicti, criminal liability for offenses in the sphere of implementation state and municipal authorities.

She is the head of the master’s program «Lawyer in the field of criminal proceedings».
