Alexander N. Nevalyonniy

Rector of the Astrakhan state technical University, doctor of biology, Professor (Astrakhan)

Alexander Nevalyonniy graduated from the Astrakhan technical Institute of fishing industry and economy with honors in 1981, in 1987 he defended his Cand. Sc. degree thesis, in 1996- a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Biology. In 1999, he was awarded the academic title of Professor.

Alexander Nikolaevich is a well-known scientist in the field of physiology of aquatic organisms, head of the laboratory «physiology of digestion of aquatic animals». The Astrakhan state technical University has created a scientific school of physiologists. Under his leadership, students are engaged in scientific research, participate in student conferences, competitions, a number of them are fellows of the President of the Russian Federation Foundation, the Government of the Russian Federation Foundation and the Soros Foundation.

Under the guidance of A. N. Nevalyonniy six candidate and one doctoral dissertation were defended. He is the head of graduate programs in Hydrobiology, Ecology, and master’s programs. Alexander Nikolaevich is the author of more than 150 scientific papers, monographs and educational and methodological works. The results of his research are regularly presented at international symposiums, conferences and scientific congresses.

Professor A. N. Nevalyonniy is known to the scientific community as a specialist in the field of fish physiology. He was the head of a grant from the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (no. 05-04-96503_Volga region), a member of specialized councils for the defense of candidate and doctoral theses in the specialties 03.00.10 — «Ichthyology», 03.00.18 – «Hydrobiology», 03.00.13 — «Physiology».

In 1999, A. N. Nevalyonniy initiated the organization of the faculty of biology and nature management at the Astrakhan state technical University, was elected Dean, in 2003 – Director of the Institute of biology and nature management, in 2008 — Director of the Institute of fisheries, biology and nature management. Alexander Nikolaevich made a great personal contribution to the development of the Institute, with his participation, new specialties and areas of training for bachelors and masters were licensed for ASTU, several new departments were created, including graduate ones. All educational programs are open due to the needs of the Astrakhan region’s labor market, and in some cases at the direct request of the administration of the Astrakhan region.

Nevalyonniy pays great attention to expanding the material base of the Institute, developing innovative activities, organizing the educational process, providing methodological support for new specialties and courses, and expanding the scientific interests of the Institute’s employees. The Institute actively operates biological stations «Dubrava» and «Ilmenno-Bugrovaya», created for the organization of students’ practices; research and production center «Ecotur», laboratory of microbiological monitoring, which conducts research in the field of restoration of technogenic systems; Museum «Ichthyology».

Professor Nevalyonniy A. N. is a member of teaching associations in the sphere of service of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation, association of environmental engineering and water management of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation, educational-methodical Association on classical University education in Biology and Ecology.

For many years of conscientious work, Professor Nevalyonniy A. N. was repeatedly encouraged by diplomas, including the State Fisheries Committee of the Russian Federation (in 1997, 2000 and 2004), awards, grants of the Administration of Astrakhan city and the Astrakhan region. In 2006, Professor A. N. Nevalyonniy was awarded the medal of the order of merit for the Fatherland, II degree.
